Surprisingly, now that we are stationary in the Bay Area for a while, we seem to have more time on our hands. Of course, we did have some quality time with doctors and hospitals, but we appear to be on the tail end of that. Given we are going to be in the Bay Area for another couple of months until doctors tell us it is okay to travel, we are in search of ways to fill our days. Having explored all alternatives, we have come to the reluctant conclusion that the only way to pass the time is to (ever so briefly) join the workforce and become respectable members of society.
An was the first to succumb to the pressure, I clearly have the higher tolerance for being unproductive. Today is An's first day working at Madewell. Not surprisingly, An felt that her existing wardrobe would not be sufficient for the new job. Personally I think the trekking pants, t-shirts, and a Patagonia fleece have an edgy road warrior chic that would be well received in any fashion house. My opinion was quickly dismissed, not sure it was even entertained.
While An is off contributing to society and our financial wellbeing, I am sitting on my brother’s couch writing this blog post. I will argue that it is debatable who is making the bigger contribution to society. We do have tens of (more likely just 10) followers of our blog. Sadly my days of unproductivety (dedicated effort to the blog) are numbered, I am going to start work tomorrow. The only new addition to my wardrobe is the new Klim riding suit (An got one too) we picked up a few weeks ago. I will have to make do with the trekking pants and t-shirts, good thing I work in tech. There is a good chance that I might not even be the worst dressed one at the office.
While sadly we have become respectable members of society, I make a promise that we will one day shortly be unemployed again. The sad sight of our bikes sitting in the garage unridden and ready to go is just too hard to bear. Speaking of which, I guess we need to get fuel stabilizer. It is just so sad.
For those keeping track of An's wardrobe, the new items have not been weighed. They will not be coming with us on our trip. At least that is what she tells me now.
