It was weird watching the New York skyline recede as we zipped down the Jersey highway, but I was too focused on just riding (newbie that I am) to dwell too much on it. We opted for a light first day of riding, and as we sit here in Pennsylvania, having set up camp, only a tiny part of this is sinking in. Namely, wherever we are we are. There is no apartment to go home to or jobs demanding us to return from vacation. There is just a lot of road. And mosquitoes.
I crafted various paeans for New York in my head as I anticipated this day. New York has been home for so long and there is so much to say about the city and the family and friends in it. This time, though, less is enough.
I love you New York. I am going to miss you.
